DR 601 DOCTORAL DISSERTATION

The dissertation for the Doctor of Philosophy Degree must relate to the student’s academic major relative to the subject matter.  This topic must receive prior approval by the seminary.  Each student in the doctoral degree program will receive personal guidance throughout their dissertation process by a mentor.

The dissertation is to be completed according to the following requirements:

1.      Formatting and organization of all parts of the dissertation to be based on Kate L. Turabian’s book “A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations.”  This includes the Table of Contents, Outline, Chapter Headings and Divisions, Footnotes, Bibliography, twelve-point type, etc.

2.      Textual reading requirement is approximately 15,000 pages.

3.      The dissertation textual writing (outline not included) is to contain a minimum of 30,000 words (approximately 120 pages).

4.      The dissertation is submitted to the seminary in three phases:

                 Phase I:  The doctoral student candidate must submit the following for approval:  (1) completed outline, (2) dissertation statement, and (3) bibliography.

                 Phase II:  A completed rough textual draft of the academic project is submitted to the seminary for approval.

Phase III:  After completing the final dissertation project, two complete copies, with black hardbound covers and contrasting printed letters, are sent to the seminary.
